Inclusive Leadership Framework

The Ellison Model Inclusive Leadership Framework provides three collective pathways to individuals and organizations seeking ways to strengthen their sense of belonging within the workplace. The specific knowledge base and skills include improving your Equity & Racial Intelligence (RQ), Conflict Transformation Skills (TQ), and Leadership Acumen (LQ). The Ellison Model Institute for Equity & Inclusion offers an inclusive leadership certification using the framework.

Racial Equity Intelligence (IQ)

  • Participants will enhance their understanding of race and structural inequities, including racism, discrimination, and oppression, while recognizing their historical and contemporary impact on marginalized communities.
  • Participants will foster empathy and sensitivity to the physical, psychological, and emotional effects of structural inequities on individuals and communities.
  • Participants will improve their ability to identify and address acts of exclusion and discrimination in organizational and community contexts.

Conflict Transformation Intelligence (TQ)

  • Participants will heighten their self-awareness and develop character-building skills to challenge socialized narratives of hierarchy and competition, embracing inclusive values such as care, trust, and respect.
  • Participants will acquire practical skills for conflict transformation, enabling them to navigate and resolve conflicts constructively within their personal and professional environments.
  • Participants will recognize the importance of inclusive community building as a business imperative for organizational success.

Leadership Acumen (LQ)

  • Participants will develop the ability to mobilize others toward creating inclusive and sustainable organizational practices, using strategic planning and change management tools.
  • Participants will learn to apply an equity lens to critically analyze and improve organizational policies and culture, ensuring diversity and inclusion at all levels.
  • Participants will gain actionable strategies for leading with intentionality, authenticity, and a focus on research-based practices that foster equity and inclusion.

Trust, Honor, & Respect

  • Trust is essential for creating safe environments where individuals feel valued and empowered to express themselves authentically.
  • Honor reflects a leader’s commitment to recognizing and valuing each individual’s unique contributions.
  • Respect is the cornerstone of equitable and inclusive practices within organizations.
